Between Here & Nowhere by Clay Lipsky in fraction magazine
Have a look at the full story, “Between Here & Nowhere” by our friend and f-11 member, Clay Lipsky in fraction magazine ( Issue 26 – May 2011 THIRD ANNIVERSARY ISSUE):
Between Here & Nowhere is an ongoing series based upon my years of exploring the deserts of Southern California. I was initially inspired to photograph the natural beauty beyond the concrete sprawl of Los Angeles, but my motivation soon changed once I ventured far enough. Upon discovering the rural decay scattered throughout the Mojave Desert to the toxic shores of the man-made Salton Sea, I became focused on documenting the ways mankind had altered this environment. In my eyes, I see the artifacts as symbols of man’s basic needs and the applied ambitions to flee urban trappings. However this story is not just about loss and the toll society takes on our surroundings. For every change we make to the landscape, nature will adapt to and ultimately the processes of entropy and evolution will thrive. In the end we are just visitors passing through and these are the marks we leave behind.
Tamron USA, has done an interview with our dear member Mr. Leo Lam for their April of 2011’s news letter. Leo was also the editor of Vol. 4 of f-eleven books (dedicated to Seattle Opera).
From the interview:
Leo Lam has become a photographic force on the fashion, beauty, and editorial landscape since he established his commercial studio six years ago. His work has been published worldwide, and his client list spans four continents. It’s Lam’s diverse background (he’s an electrical engineer and a serial entrepreneur by trade, with artistic sensibilities informed by time spent in London and Hong Kong — and a classical tenor to boot) that injects a unique perspective into every one of this Seattle-based photographer’s beautifully composed images.

About Derek Andrew and C O R S O N :
Derek Andrew introduced its retail concept boutique in downtown Seattle at the corner of 4th and Virginia in 1995, in what is today The Dahlia Lounge Restaurant. The vision of husband & wife team Derek & Cynthia Federman was to create an intimate retail environment with a distinctly casual, industrial elegance to showcase their self designed product lines, which then included the upscale and casual Derek Andrew labeled Men’s and Women’s collections, as well as several complimentary denim, clothing, accessories and home furnishings brands.
Over the next 5 years, the company expanded, eventually outgrowing its original Seattle location. In early 2000, Derek Andrew relocated its operations to Bellevue, and opened the doors to a new retail flagship store in the heart of the city, across the street from the Bellevue Square Mall in a freestanding, modern industrial space.
Derek Andrew is excited to introduce their latest clothing line
C O R S O N
C O R S O N is about sexy sophistication with a downtown edge. Street meets luxe with simple deconstructed silhouettes made from the most luxurious fabrics. Inspired by modern simplicity, C O R S O N is for the fashion minimalist whose look is effortless. C O R S O N will be available at Derek Andrew in Bellevue February 28th, 2010.

We would like to congratulate Leo Lam, his team and Derek Andrew for the job well done.
